'John Rabe', a title that referred to a hero of the slaughter of Nanjing in 1937. Rabe was one of the few Westerners who remained in town to help the Chinese while the vast majority of foreigners fled. They were a score who were accommodated in a safe area for foreigners and the Japanese more or less respected. Between them, they saved hundreds, perhaps thousands of Chinese. John Rabe, a German businessman and Nazi party leader in Nanjing became the Oscar Schindler of China. He sent letters to Hitler to be mobilized, sent letters to Tokyo to stop praying for the horror and, through its membership of the Nazi party, he could roam the streets safe and to many people.
The film will be directed by Florian Gallenberger unknown, and will deal with the main star Steve Buscemi, accompanied by German actor Daniel Brühl, France's Anne Consigny, Chinese Hang Lu and Zhang Jingchu and Japanese Teruyuki Kagawa and Akira Emoto. |
